With nicknames such as “Live Music Capital of the World,” “The ATX,” and “City of the Violet Crown,” Austin is one of the most lively and pleasant cities to live in throughout the nation.

With a population of about 758,000 residents in the city and about 1.7 million in the Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Area, Austin is the capital of Texas and the county seat of Travis County. Austin is located in Central Texas and is the 15th largest city in the nation. Austin has achieved numerous awards for its excellence in beauty and quality of life including No. 2 Best Big City in “Best Places to Live” by Money magazine in 2006, No. 3 as “Greenest City in America” by MSN in 2009, No. 2 as city with the best people, referring to the personalities and attributes of the citizens by CNN, America’s #1 College Town by the Travel Channel, and 5th safest city in the United States.

Today, Austin has developed into a major city and center for technology and business, being home to major companies such as Dell, Whole Foods Market, and Freescale Semiconductor. The city is also home to the University of Texas.
